My journey of faith started in 1973 and on the way has so far included a BA from Johns Hopkins Univ. in Math Sciences (’78), MBA from Cornell Univ. (’82) in Health Admin, 25+ years IT mgt. experience, Board and staff roles for Christian Community Health Fellowship (4 years) and Esperanza Health Center (15 years, one of 3 founders of Christian health center serving the inner-city Latino community), Y2K Director for TUHS, and the last six years networking and praying with church leadership in Philadelphia. Through all of this, I’ve participated in Christian churches from most every denomination or persuasion, and for the past 25 years attended and been in leadership roles within Living Word Community church in Philadelphia, a non-denominational church in the inner-city, one third each white, black, and Latino). . I’m presently writing a book untitled “Prepared to be a Blessing” that looks into the scriptural call to be prepared (e.g. Parable of the 10 virgins) , what holds us back (e.g. pride, denial, etc.), and what we can do practically to become prepared. Furthermore, in partnership with others, I’ve drafted preliminary specifications for an extensive website NOT YET developed or in place (www.ptbab.org) that will educate, motivate, and enable the church to develop emergency plans and to connect with organizations responding to emergencies.
